FIrst Digital X-Ray Room at Birmingham Heartlands

Philips Digital Diagnost H Upgrades A&E Facility

The Birmingham Heartlands & Solihull NHS Trust recently acquired a Philips Digital Diagnost TH with a multi-purpose VM wall stand for the A & E Department at the Birmingham Heartlands Hospital.   The two detector systems effectively combine the high throughput advantage of a dual detector system with the flexibility of a single detector system for an A & E room.    The new equipment, which replaced a conventional X-ray system, represents the first digital X-ray room for the Hospital.

The Hospital selected the Philips equipment on the strength of its flexibility.  Laurence Skermer, Superintendent Radiographer says, “We felt it important to have confidence in the system we purchased.   The Digital Diagnost with the VM wall stand has justified our decision, with the flexibility provided by the VM unit proving to be a true advantage when handling our trauma patients.”

The ergonomic design of the Philips Digital Diagnost has proved a winner over the years and the integrated digital version builds on this reputation to enhance and improve performance, offering fast information at the highest quality.   The multi-purpose VM wall stand offers much more than just the capability of an erect detector – thanks to the flexible design, the second detector can also be used for lateral examinations on the table, for example, for lateral spine or hip examinations, or alongside a trolley for trauma examinations.

The Philips Digital Diagnost TH with VM wall stand is an ideal dual-detector solution for a department with a high throughput and a demand for a large variety of applications and projections where a high performance room is absolutely essential.   The two detectors make it easy to switch from table examinations to wall examinations, whilst the automated functions, such as auto collimation and move-to-position help increase workflow.

The Birmingham Heartlands & Solihull NHS Trust includes Birmingham Heartlands Hospital, Solihull Hospital, Good Hope Hospital and Birmingham Chest Clinic, serving the population of East Birmingham, Solihull, Sutton Coldfield, Tamworth and South Staffordshire.
